Cyrus Farivar is a freelance public radio journalist who is based out of Oakland, but travels the world collecting stories. He has an entry on his own blog about how he gets a story on the air. He excellently delineates the difference between various public media producers (as in, not everything you hear on public radio is made by NPR), and explains what a tape sync is, and how he pitches. For anyone interested in what it’s like to freelance for a living… Independence at work!
